The UK Design Council designs and creates programs that address social issues. They are also ahead of the US in terms of being progressive and forward-thinking. Check out the UK Design Council. Jennie Winhall of said organization spoke at the International Design Summit in October 2006. She has been a part of a number of these teams so look for her name and podcasts that might include her. She is charming, self- effacing and smart.
